Career Center survey: good news for Arnold School baccalaureate graduates

December 9, 2014

The USC Career Center’s Annual Graduation Survey yielded a positive outlook for current and prospective Arnold School baccalaureates. The Center’s most recent survey collected data from May bachelor’s degree graduates, employers and professional schools.

The results indicate that the average annual salary for Exercise Science and Public Health graduates have increased by 13.2 percent to $33,750. This was the greatest percentage increase among all USC colleges and schools. Graduates reporting employment increased by nearly 10 percent over the 2013 data, with reported unemployment dropping as well.

Arnold School graduates experienced another 10 percent increase with regard to the types of jobs they obtained. More than 52 percent of these alumni reported employment in a job that requires a four-year degree, up from 42 percent in 2013. Seventy-five percent of these jobs were right here in South Carolina.

The May 2014 survey also benefited from an increased data sample. The number of Arnold School graduates responding to the survey increased by 50 percent compared to the May 2013 survey.  Despite the challenges of a recovering economy and steadily high unemployment, these results confirm that Arnold School graduates are continuing to improve their positions year after year. The progress in the workforce is especially impressive in light of economic headwinds and nationwide trends, and points to their own hard work, as well as the dedication of faculty, staff and practitioners who teach, advise and mentor them.

The USC Career Center continues to collect this important information and would appreciate participation from all December bachelor’s degree graduates in their current survey.
