Now, the Arnold School of Public Health is in line to bestow honors to students in recognition of outstanding achievement. The awards, which will be presented at the Hooding Ceremony on May 6 at the Koger Center, include:

  • Jeffrey Keith Mattison Outstanding Student: Presented annually to a master’s-level graduating student, this award is made in memory of Jeffrey Keith Mattison, an epidemiology and biostatistics student who died in 1997, only weeks into his graduate program of study. The award, open to all students in Arnold School departments , will recognize the graduating master’s degree student who, in combination of service, leadership, and/or personal example, exemplifies many Jeffrey’s remarkable qualities. The nomination deadline is March 19. Any student, faculty or staff member can nominate a student for this award.
  • Doctoral Achievement Award: Eligible candidates must have graduated or be eligible to graduate during the academic year from December 2009 – August 2010. Students are nominated by Arnold School faculty and are selected based on their academic performance and achievements and their potential for professional contribution.
