Ramzi Salloum (HSPM) earns one of eight spots in the Cancer Research Network Scholars Program

The Department of Health Services Policy and Management’s Ramzi Salloum has earned a spot in the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Research Network Scholars Program. Open to junior researchers across the United States, this competitive program serves as a 26-month training activity that accepts only eight scholars each year.
The program is designed to help young investigators develop research independence using Cancer Research Network resources. The training guides them through the process of becoming a Principal Investigator on a successful investigator-initiated grant.
Salloum, an assistant professor who joined the Arnold School in 2013, applied to the program by proposing the project, Measuring Individual Patient Preferences for Management of Prostate Cancer. The study will examine patient preferences managing prostate cancer, focusing on decision-making in the treatment and survivorship phases. Salloum believes that gaining knowledge of patient preferences for prostate cancer management can better inform clinicians by enabling them to tailor decisions to individual patient values, attitudes and priorities.
