Arnold School of Public Health faculty and doctoral students will have a key role in presentations at this year’s USC Convergent Journalism conference, Oct. 11 – 12.

The conference, titled “Convergence and Society: Science, Health, and New Dimensions of Communication” will combine the traditional focus on convergent journalism with studies of health and science communication.

Co-sponsored by USC’s Science and Health Communication Research Group and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, the two-day event will provide a forum for the presentation of research regarding science and health communication, particularly regarding how science and health messages can be effectively communicated to the public through new media and technology.

Elizabeth Cohen, a senior medical correspondent for CNN, will be the keynote speaker. Cohen’s reporting has contributed to CNN winning two Emmy Awards for news coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Seven of the 11 research group presenters at the conference are from the Arnold School’s Department of Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior.
