Two researchers from the Arnold School of Public Health have been named as the most Highly Cited Researchers 2014 in a new Thomson Reuters listing.

They are Dr. Steve Blair, listed in Clinical Medicine category, and Dr. Jamie R. Lead, who is in the Environment/Ecology category.

Blair is a professor in the Department of Exercise Science and Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Lead, a professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, is chair of the Environmental Nanoscience and Risk Assessment Center of Economic Excellence.

The 2014 list contains some 3,200 highly cited researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences. The researchers earned the distinction by writing the greatest numbers of reports officially designated by Essential Science Indicators as Highly Cited Paper -- ranking among the top 1 percent most cited for their subject field and year of publication -- between 2002 and 2012.

The listings of Highly Cited Researchers feature authors whose published work in their specialty areas has consistently been judged by peers to be of particular significance and utility.

The list of Highly Cited Researchers in the sciences and social sciences updates and complements a previously published list that was presented on the website ISIHighlyCited.com. The former list, first issued in 2001, identified more than 7,000 researchers who were the most cited in one or more of 21 broad fields of the sciences and social sciences.

Only three researchers from South Carolina are included on the list. The other is Dr. Branko Popov from USC’s College of Engineering and Computing.
