    Congratulations to Jennifer Trilk, who has been chosen for the Aspen Institute’s Health Innovator’s Fellowship. Dr. Trilk will join 20 Health Innovator Fellows in exploring and expanding their visions and impact for the healthcare system.   • CPARG team co-author SEARCH study selected for publication in journal, Pediatric Diabetes.

    Members of CPARG are co-authors on a SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth project evaluation titled “Longitudinal association between eating frequency and HbA1c and serum lipids in diabetes in the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Study”, which has been accepted for publication by Pediatric Diabetes. The paper, authored by Chao Li, Ralph D’Agostino, Dana Dabelea, Angela Liese, Elizabeth Mayer-Davis, Russ Pate, and Anwar Merchant, evaluates and describes the association of eating frequency on glycated hemoglobin and cardiovascular risk in youth with diabetes.

  • Russ Pate co-author on American Heart Association Scientific Statement published on National Walking Day 2018

    CPARG’s own Russ Pate is a co-author on “Routine Assessment and Promotion of Physical Activity in Healthcare Settings: A Scientific Statement from the American Heart Association”, the release of which coincides with AHA’S National Walking Day, April 4th, 2018. The statement, released on the American Heart Association’s Science News website, provides a comprehensive review of the evidence on the feasibility, validity, and effectiveness of assessing and promoting physical activity in healthcare settings, clinical and community care providers, fitness professionals, the technology industry, and other stakeholders in order to catalyze increased adoption of physical activity assessment and promotion in healthcare settings and to contribute to meeting the American Heart Association’s 2020 Impact Goals. Other authors on the statement are Felipe Lebelo, Deborah Rohm Young, Robert Sallis, Michael Garber, Sandra Billinger, John Duperly, Adrien Hutber, Randal J. Thomas, Michael E. Widlansky, Michael V.   • CPARG team publish article in the February issue of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health

    CPARG team members Sharon Ross, Morgan Clennin, Marsha Dowda, Natalie Colabianchi, and Russ Pate published a study, Stepping It Up: Walking Behaviors in Children Transitioning from 5th to 7th Grade, in the February, 2018 issue of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. The study describes walking behavior of children during the period of transition between elementary and middle school. The study concludes that walking behaviors in children during this period declined, necessitating  community-level improvement to help maintain walking behaviors over time.
